- Burns Night - Author of 'Auld Lang Syne' and many other songs commonly sung even today, coiner of the phrase 'Wad some power the giftie gie us tae see oursel's as ithers see us', Robert Burns is the National Poet of the Scottish culture. Born January 25th, 1759, his birthday is celebrated annually by Scots all over the world in various forms from the very formal to the more casual. The Society follows the latter tradition each January on the Friday closest to his birthday with food and drink, song, poetry, dancing and the ubiquitous (for Scots) bagpipes. Come join us.
- Corn Roast - Every August, just for fun, members and friends gather for a day of burgers, hot dogs, sausages, and corn, piping, country dancing and summertime companionship. We provide the grillables, corn, and soft drinks, tea and coffee.
- St. Andrew's Day - St. Andrew is the patron Saint of many countries, including Scotland. He is perhaps more personal to Scots since tradition has it that late in the Roman era of Britain, (according to Catholic tradition), an angel appeared to St. Regulus, or Rule, and directed him to disperse the bones of Andrew 'in the four corners of the earth'. In the course of this mission, St. Regulus and St. Theneva arrived in Scotland where a miraculously revived St. Andrew appeared. The three saints then erected the church of St. Andrew. His bones were kept there until the Reformation, at which time they disappeared.
- St. Andrew's Night - St. Andrew's Night is celebrated with much pomp and circumstance. The setting is reminiscent of a castle 'great hall', with Clan Banners and Crests suspended over colorful kilted gentlemen and beautifully gowned ladies. The evening begins after a cocktail hour, with entry of the officers, each accompanied by a piper, banner bearer and armed escort. Dinner follows, after which the annual Caledonian Scholarship and a Scholastic Excellence Award is presented to local students, and contributors to the Society and the community are recognized. Guests spend the remainder of the evening in modern and Scottish country dancing and enjoying performances of The Caledonian Pipes, Drums and Dancers, and the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Formal kilted attire and dresses are preferred, but coat and tie is acceptable.
- Society Meetings
- Annual Meeting - The purpose of this meeting is solely to elect trustees and officers and to conduct the business of the Society.
- Spring and Fall Meetings - These are primarily social gatherings and members may bring guests. The format is usually a cocktail hour followed by dinner, after which a short program of entertainment or piping is usually offered. As a rule business is restricted to election of new members.
